She was born on 16 February 1973 in Australia. She is Aborigine.

She was a double world champion in 1997 and 1999.

During the 2000 summer Olympic games, she became the Olympic champion for the women 400 meters competition.

The 2000 summer Olympic games took place in Sydney (Australia) and she lit the Olympic Flame.

She is the first Aborigine that ever compete in the Olympic games.

This is a very strong symbol against racism in Australia and as shown below she associated both flags (Australian and Aboriginal) for her victory.
